The interdisciplinary predoctoral training program in Molecular and Cellular Toxicology is headquartered within the Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, a free-standing unit within Wayne State University which has a focus on molecular, cellular, and genomic approaches to the study of toxic effects. The 11 faculty associated with the program are engaged in research emphasizing molecular and cellular biology, recombinant DNA technology, bioinformatics, and molecular genetics. Students enrolled in this program will receive intensive instruction in

  • Principles of toxicology, recognizing the cross-disciplinary nature of the field
  • Contemporary techniques and technologies used in the life sciences
  • Recognizing the complex relationships between environment, genetics/genomics, susceptibility to toxicants, and the development and progression of human disease
