Interpretive CenterInterpretive Center
The Interpretive Center features exhibits on seabirds, marine and intertidal life, as well as human history on the headland. From the wheelhouse of an historic ship, to a recreated rocky island and its inhabitants, to a full scale replica of the lighthouse lantern, exhibits help visitors appreciate the rich history of Yaquina Head. The Yaquina Head Interpretive store sells many educational items to bring Yaquina Head’s stories to your home, including videos about the lighthouse and gray whales along the Oregon Coast. A fee is charged for use of the site Friends of Yaquina LighthousesFriends of Yaquina Lighthouses, a non-profit organization, was formed to aid in the restoration and preservation of the Yaquina Bay and Yaquina Head lighthouses and surrounding area. They support educational and interpretive programs and sell items relating to the natural and cultural history of the two lighthouses. Friends of Yaquina Lighthouses is chiefly funded through sales at its two Interpretive Stores, special events, grants and their membership program. The Yaquina Head store is located in the Interpretive Center while the Yaquina Bay store is located in the basement of the Yaquina Bay lighthouse. Members receive discounts on items purchased at the stores.
