Records Management Program

The National Archives and Records Administration has government-wide responsibility for records management. We are charged with ensuring that Federal agencies identify and maintain essential records that protect the rights of citizens, ensure the accountablity of government, and document the national experience.

To carry out this mission, we in the NARA Pacific Region Records Management Program assist agencies with evaluating programs, developing retention schedules, appraising records, and implementing electronic recordkeeping. We also offer records management training workshops covering a wide range of topics and skills.

Our staff of seven is in two locations, one in the San Francisco Bay Area, the other in Southern California. We make frequent visits to Federal agency and court offices in Nevada and Arizona in addition to locations throughout California.
