Describes methodology for research, a guide to the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, Utah, sample pedigree chart, libraries in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, New Mexico, New York, Texas, and Mexico. Lists offices of civil registries in Mexico from which vital records may be obtained and includes a sample letter in Spanish for requesting them. Lists libraries and archives in Spain. Chapter 5 provides a unique list of 23 racial categories used in documents and the official definition of each. The largest portion of the book gives words, phrases, and abbreviations found in Hispanic records, with their English equivalents. Lists provinces, states, and provincial capitals of Spain and Mexico.
