ROAD CONDITION

Landslide Closes Road East of Cedar City

A landslide at milepost 8 on state Route 14 is covering the road for a distance of approximately 800 feet. Initial assessment late Monday (January 5) night shows boulders the size of houses mixed with trees and dirt. The road may remain closed for up to two weeks. Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) engineers and crews will determine a course of action after further assessment.

Motorists seeking to cross the mountains between Cedar City and Panguitch should use other routes. UDOT advises drivers to check the CommuterLink web site or call 5-1-1 for the latest road conditions before attempting to use other mountain passes in the area which are subject to drifting snow and potential closure at any time.

State of Utah Road Conditions Web Site - Road conditions are reported by Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) snowplow operators. Reports are updated daily before 8:00 am and at 4:00 pm. Additional updates may be added if changing conditions warrant it. UDOT's Road Condition Hotline toll-free telephone number is 1-866-511-8824.
