Core Competency Model
The NIH Core Competencies represent the basic knowledge, skills and abilities that are required of all NIH employees in administrative positions. The Core model is the foundation of all the others. Employees that fall under an Occupation-Specific competency model (e.g. accounting, contracting, public affairs) should follow the Core and related Occupation-Specific competency models. Those in Leadership & Management should consult the Core, Leadership & Management, and Occupation-Specific competency models.
The Core competencies are categorized into the following three groups:
- Working with Others
- Personal Management
- Organization and Results Focus
