2000 Special Expert Stipend Ranges

(Effective January 2, 2000)

The Director, NIH approved 2000 comparability stipend increases for special expert employees by memorandum dated December 29, 1999. IC Directors are authorized to raise the 1999 rates of pay for NIH Special Experts, not to exceed $122,400 per annum (i.e., equivalent to Executive Level IV) as follows:

Employees whose 1999 salary is $110,351 (ES-1) or above - 3.4 percent

Employees whose 1999 salary is less than $110,351 (ES-1) - 4.94 percent

 

Special Expert (Physicians) $68,900 - $122,400
(Based on Special Salary rate for Research Physician GS-13/1, (with 3.4% increase) rounded to the next higher $100~Executive Level IV)

Special Expert (Other Doctoral) $55,900 - $122,400
(Based on General Schedule salary rate for GS-13/1, (with 3.4% increase) rounded to the next higher $100~Executive Level IV)

NIH Special Experts are appointed and paid under 42 USC 282(d)(1), 285a-2(b)(5), and 285b-3(b)(1) of the Public Health Service Act.
