2000 Title 42 Service Fellowship Program Stipend Ranges*

(42 U.S.C. Section 209(g) and 209(h), and 42 C.F.R. Part 61 B)

(Effective January 2, 2000)

Comparability Increases for Current Employees

The Director, NIH approved 2000 comparability stipend increases for service fellowship employees who are on our rolls as of January 2, 2000, by memorandum dated December 29, 1999. IC Directors are authorized to raise the 1999 rates of pay for NIH Service Fellowship Program appointees (AD), Special Experts (EE) and Senior Biomedical Research Service (RS) employees by the following percentages:

Employees whose 1999 salary is $110,351 (ES-1) or above - 3.4 percent

Employees whose 1999 salary is less than $110,351 (ES-1) - 4.94 percent


2000 IC Stipend Range: $56,000 - $157,000

(Based on pay range for GS-13/1, rounded to next higher $1,000, ~ EX-I)
(Proposed salaries above $157,000 must be submitted to OD/NIH.)

*Except Special Experts (EE), currently $55,800~EX IV; or, (RS) Senior Biomedical Research Service, currently $77,614 to $157,000

In keeping with current delegations of authority, IC Directors may approve stipend levels up to Executive Level I (i.e., $157,000). The Director, NIH retains authority to approve exceptions to ranges which exceed Executive Level I (currently $157,000) and stipend increases that result in an increase of $30,000 or more, including initial stipends or stipend adjustments.
