Alice Fletcher and her adopted Omaha son, Francis La Flesche,
documented Omaha traditional music on wax cylinder recordings between
1895 and 1911, as part of their research leading to the publication
of a major ethnography entitled The Omaha Tribe (1911).
Here you see both a sample cylinder and the types of notes and
translations Fletcher made regarding four Pebble Society songs
recorded from an unnamed singer by La Flesche in September 1895.
