In the early 1970s, Milton Rogovin photographed working families
on Buffalo's Lower West Side. He documented these same individuals
in the 1980s and again in 1992, providing an amazing portrait of
families over time. Working in the style of a social documentary
photographer, Rogovin's dignified portraits speak of the dreams
and aspirations common to humanity. Milton Rogovin and his family
recently donated his photographic archive to the Library of Congress,
including this series taken of Robert "Chino" Montalvo,
Johnny Lee Wines and Ezekiel Johnson, photographed over an almost
twenty-year period.
