Forest Visitor Maps

These maps are available to purchase from the National Forest Store and many retail outlets. The Forest Visitor Maps are also available for online viewing and printing.

Specialty Maps

Many specialty maps are available from the National Forest Store covering specific trails, Wilderness Areas and other special areas.

National Forest Atlases

Full color atlases, containing 8½ x 11 inch topographic quadrangle maps at 1 inch to the mile scale, are available for many of the forests in California through the National Forest Store.

Local Maps*

Many brochures and maps are available from individual forests covering local recreation opportunities.

Forest Visitor Map

The 2007 version of the Forest Visitor Map is available on our website. There are two maps. One is for the east side of the forest (Trinity Lake, Shasta Lake, Mt. Shasta and McCloud areas) and the other is the west side (Trinity Lake, Big Bar, Weaverville, Hayfork and Platina areas). The maps are VERY large and detailed (about 35 megabytes each) and to access them, a "high speed" Internet connection is highly recommended.

These maps will not print well on 8.5"X11" paper common to home computers. Instead, it is suggested that you 'zoom in' on a section that interests you (Adobe Reader version 6 and above incorporate this zoom in feature) and print just the smaller section by selecting 'Current View' in your printer dialogue box.

Shasta and Trinity Lake

On the Shasta-Trinity, we have recreation maps for Shasta Lake and Trinity Lake as well as boating safety maps for Shasta and Trinity Lakes. Note: These maps are available in our offices at no charge.

Topographic Quadrangle Maps

Topographic quadrangle maps are produced cooperatively by the Forest Service and the U.S. Geological Survey. These maps are 22 x 27 inches, provide the greatest level of detail and cover only small portions of each forest. The maps are available over-the-counter at the Regional Office in Vallejo and from the U.S. Geological Survey.

Roadless Area Conservation Maps

These maps show categories of inventoried roadless areas in each National Forest in the United States.

Note: Some maps on this page require Adobe Reader. Get Adobe Reader.

*The paper maps are large format (19" X 18" or 27" X 27") and may take several minutes to download (high speed Internet connections recommended). Web versions may not display or print properly depending on your computers settings.
