EPA Regional and State Offices
Complementing the ongoing EPA Headquarters policy development effort, EPA maintains ten Regional Offices to implement federal environmental programs around the country. These Regional Offices cooperate with federal, state, interstate and local agencies, as well as with industry, academic institutions and other private groups, to ensure that Regional needs are addressed and that federal environmental laws are upheld. Each Regional Office has designated Regional Asbestos Coordinators and National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants (NESHAP) Asbestos Coordinators to oversee the Asbestos efforts within the Region.
EPA also provides a list of State Asbestos Contacts for the convenience of our users. This state list will be updated on an annual basis only.

TSCA Hotline and Asbestos Ombudsman
TSCA Hotline - Sponsored by the Office of Pollution Prevention and Toxics, the TSCA Hotline provides technical assistance and information about asbestos programs implemented under TSCA, which include: the Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Act (ASHAA), the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA) and the Asbestos School Hazard Abatement Reauthorization Act (ASHARA). The Hotline also provides copies of TSCA information, such as Federal Register notices and support documents, to requesters.

Asbestos Ombudsman - The Ombudsman focuses on asbestos in schools requirements and handles questions and complaints. The Ombudsman operates a toll-free hotline for the convenience of small businesses, trade associations and others seeking free, confidential help. A member of the Ombudsman's staff will answer calls between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. EST. Message-recording devices for calls during non-business hours and overload periods are provided. All calls are personally handled on a fast turn-around basis. The toll-free hotline number is: (800) 368-5888.
