Question:
I am having problems connecting to one of your pages. When I do, my system locks up. What's going on?
Response:
Several different possibilities could cause this problem:
- A browser error: If this has occurred, close the browser; reopen it, and try again.
- Web cache problem: If others are able to access the site, then it could be a problem with your web page cache. To remedy this, clear your cache and then try reloading the site again. A simple way of doing this is to hit the refresh button in the browser while holding down the control key. See question How do I clear the cache on my browser? for instructions on how to clear your cache.
- ISP (Internet Service Provider) problem: Your ISP may have a problem. Test whether or not this is the case trying to access other websites. If you have difficulties, contact your ISP.
- The nces.ed.gov server is temporarily unavailable:Servers and communciation networks occasionally have problems. If this should happen to ours, we ask for your patience. We have technicians on call twenty-four hours a day to resolve these types of issues.
