Welcome to the Center for Technology and National Security Policy. The
Center investigates the implications of technological innovation on U.S.
national security policy and military plans. We work closely with the
science and technology community and take on projects that bridge the
gap between technology and policy.
Created in June 2001 under the guidance and vision of Vice Admiral Paul
Gaffney, President of the National Defense University, the Center has
taken the lead in the areas like border security and military transformation.
We are also facilitating the acquisition of commercial information technology
into the services, and are undertaking a comprehensive review of the nation's
defense laboratories.
As part of NDU, the Center is committed to education. Members of the
staff teach classes and sponsor research at the University or at other
academic institutions, and are encouraged to participate in seminars,
conferences and lectures worldwide. Our grant program is designed to sponsor
research at American universities on technology and defense policy and
to tie that research to the work of the National Defense University.
On this website, you can find information on the Center's research areas,
download publications, and look at curricula taught by the staff. I encourage
you to sign up for our Defense Horizons mailing list. As the newest research
center within NDU, we are in the process of growth and are taking on new
projects, so please check back often.
