Dam Facts

Outlet Works

The Corps of Engineers constructed and operates Tuttle Creek Lake, situated in Riley, Pottawatomie and Marshall Counties in northeast Kansas. The dam is located on the Big Blue River, 9 miles upstream from the confluence of the Blue and Kansas Rivers. The dam site is situated five miles north of Manhattan, Kansas, 60 miles west of Topeka, 125 miles west of Kansas City, and 130 miles south of Lincoln, Nebraska.

The dam consists of a rolled earth and rockfill embankment with a gated, concrete chute spillway near the east abutment, and an outlet works with intake tower and gated twin conduits 20 feet in diameter near the west abutment.
