Project Overview

2002-2005
The Initiative worked directly with 20 States and Territories on strategic planning for infants and toddlers utilizing a unique model of ECE systems.

2005-2007
Specific elements of the ECE system were targeted through Learning Communities on Infant/Toddler Credentials, Infant/Toddler Specialist Networks, and infants and toddlers in Quality Ratings Systems.

2007-2009
In the current phase, the Initiative will provide customized technical assistance (TA) to CCDF Administrators and their designees or partners seeking to enhance the quality of care for infants and toddlers. TA can be delivered through any of the following, or similar activities: limited on-site visits or off-site consultation, systems-level strategic planning, roundtables, materials development and dissemination, and facilitation of learning communities. Updates to state profiles, initiatives, and materials will continue to be provided via the website.

Topics
All TA activities will be individualized to the needs of States, Tribes, and Territories and Regions. The following list represents examples of topics and activities we are prepared to support:

• Strategic planning on the use of CCDF targeted funds for infants and toddlers
  
• Effective use of Infant/Toddler Specialist Networks
  
• Development of Infant/Toddler Credentials to support professional development
  
• Including infant/toddler indicators in Quality Rating Systems
  
• Quality for infants and toddlers in Family, Friend and Neighbor Care
  
• Development of Early Learning Guidelines for infants and toddlers
