The Corps of Engineers preventing an estimated fifty million dollars in damages during the 2001 flood fight. District members fought floods in three of its three major river basins - the Red River of the North, the Minnesota and the Mississippi.
The St. Paul District was ready for the flood fight of 2001 on all fronts, starting with winter meetings with state and local officials, and the building of permanent flood control structures over the last 35 years.
