 An avian influenza workshop was held February 6—7, 2008, in Anchorage to 1) review 2006 and 2007 sampling regimes and results, 2) identify data gaps and focal areas regarding species, geographic distribution, and live versus harvested samples, 3) determine sample collection techniques for 2008, 4) review data base access and reporting policies, and 5) discuss interagency and international collaboration for avian influenza surveillance and research.
To facilitate a comprehensive avian influenza sampling effort in Alaska for the 2008 field season.
