Spring 2009

Astro Camp Saturday

Astro Camp Saturdays are one-day science camps for children ages 7-12 on Saturdays during the school year. Camp participants take part in themed missions filled with exciting experiments and activities.

This year's themes are "Rocketry 101" and "Solar Sailor."

"Rocketry 101" activities illustrate the propulsion principles that send rockets into space. Campers will learn about NASA’s space missions and will design, build and launch rockets!

In "Solar Sailor" campers will embark on a tour of the solar system. They will learn different methods of observations and design their own solar system.

Camp hours are 8:45 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., however campers should arrive at the Launch Pad by 8:30 a.m. The Launch Pad is located at the Mississippi Welcome Center in Hancock County, off I-10 at Exit 2.

The cost is $25 per camper and does not include lunch. To reserve a space in Astro Camp Saturday, fill out the Astro Camp Saturday registration form and mail it along with your payment ($25) to the address on the form. For more details on how to register, click on the registration form link below.

Astro Camp

Mission -- Another Giant Leap: Apollo Pioneers

Astro Camp is going to the Moon this summer and you're invited!

Come celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Apollo program with fun activities that will bring the historic first Moon landing to life. We’ll also look to the future of moon exploration with rocketry activities designed after NASA's Constellation program.

Discover what it would be like to live on the Moon for months at a time. What would the lunar base look like? Would you farm your own food? How would your body change? What would you use as fuel?

Come celebrate the past and explore the possibilities for the future with Astro Camp this summer.
