The Commercial Service in
Vietnam (with offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City) has for many
years offered challenging and rewarding internships for American
Undergraduate and Graduate students currently enrolled in a
university program specializing in international business,
economics and marketing. Strong business analysis, excellent
writing, and communication skills are a must. Vietnamese command
is an asset.
The intern will mostly assist with trade development and
promotion activities associated with international partner
searches, trade missions, trade events, company list preparation
and trade shows. The intern will also answer general trade
inquiries from American companies requesting information on doing
business in Vietnam and Vietnamese companies seeking American
products and services, both by the phone and at the Commercial
Library. Clerical work will be part of the everyday assist to the
commercial specialists and assistants. The intern will
occasionally work with a commercial specialist conducting market
research and drafting reports based on timely market information
or comprehensive analysis of a particular industry sector in
Vietnam.
Internships are available throughout the year, and the typical
internship runs for approximately fifteen weeks. The internships
are unpaid, and interns must provide for their own needs
(housing, travel expenses, health insurance, etc.) while in
Vietnam. Depending on the university's departmental procedures,
the intern may have the option of earning academic credit.

Requirements
In order to be eligible for this program, the potential candidate must be:
- 18 years of age or older.
- Available for at least 3 months.
- Enrolled in school.
- U.S. citizenship
