DUNS Number

A requirement (policy directive) from the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for Grant applicants which took effect on October 1, 2003 requires grant applicants to provide a Dun and Bradstreet (D&B) Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number when applying for Federal grants or cooperative agreements. A DUNS number must be included in every application (electronic or paper) for a new award or renewal of an award, including amendments. Please note that individuals who would personally receive a grant or cooperative agreement award from the Federal government apart from any business or non-profit organization they may operate are exempt from this requirement.

The DUNS number must be included in Block 5 of the Standard Form 424 entitled, "Application for Federal Assistance"(Rev. 9-03).
