Appellate Section
BRIEFS AND OPINIONS
This page provides access to all merits briefs filed in the courts of
appeals by the Appellate Section since September 1, 1999, as well as selected
briefs filed before that date. Copies of briefs filed in the Supreme
Court are available from the Office of the Solicitor
General.
Recent briefs are provided in the PDF format, which can be viewed
with the free Adobe
Acrobat 6.0 Reader. Earlier briefs may also be provided in HTML
format. If you are unable to access a brief in its posted format,
please contact our office.
While we endeavor to ensure that the electronic copies of briefs on
this site are complete and accurate (apart from formatting changes necessitated
by the conversion to HTML or PDF format), errors or omissions may occur.
The
official text of any brief is the text filed with the court.
Many of the opinions referred to on this page are available on websites
maintained by the courts or educational institutions. (Emory
Law Library
has a list of these sites.) Where possible, references
to judicial opinions include links to electronic versions of the opinion
maintained by the court. The Department of Justice exercises no control
over these sites and provides links to the opinions only as a convenience
for the readers of this page.
