Phase Highlights - What's involved
This phase focuses on mapping your system inventory to the latest DOI DRM. This includes mapping to Information Classes and related entities, and where Information is available, describing that mapping.
Historical Implementations of this phase
- DRM-Information Class -System/Sub-System Collection - April 4th through May 9th
(All existing Information Subject Areas to non-blueprint systems) - DRM-Entity - System/Sub-System Collection - Pilot Phase 4b - June 10th thru July 15th
(Law Enforcement and Recreation Focus) - DRM-Entity - System/Sub-System Collection - Pilot Phase 4c - March 2006 thru June 2006
(Wildland Fire Management Focus)
Step A--Validate your Inventory, Scope effort
For your organization/blueprint, Use the Current Phase System Inventory Report from the DEAR Reporting Site to scope out the number of systems you will be responsible for. (NOTE: This report will filter out systems that are currently being worked on by the blueprint teams). A suggested estimate is that it will take 1 day total per system to complete the phase - prep/homework, interview/collect, load, and validate/QA
Step B--Prepare/Plan
After validating your Inventory efforts, have a kickoff meeting with your Phase 4 team which may include:
- DAC Member or Delegate
- Bureau Data Team Lead (brought to table by DAC)
- IAWG Lead and Delegate(s)
- Blueprint lead involvel (if applicable)
Suggested topics for the kickoff meeting would be:
- Review Kickoff Issues
- Discuss roles of IAWG, DAC, Blueprint and Org. Data Teams
- Create a plan leveraging existing artifacts
- Set contact plan
Overall goal of this step (for all Phases of data collection) is to assure we limit redundancy in data calls as well as be as efficient when conducting interviews/data calls with the system owner/data steward.
Step C--Information Class and Entities - Collect, Load, and QA
Use the Supporting Template and Guidance Below to Collect information
The Guidance includes:
