GOVERNOR VISITS PEARL HARBOR NAVAL SHIPYARD

April 10 - "People often talk about the need to be the best," Governor Lingle said before a crowd of nearly 3,000 Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard (PHSNY) employees.  "I'm here to thank you for being the best."  In her remarks, the Governor addressed the strategic significance of the shipyard's location within the Asia-Pacific region, and shared its impact on Hawai`i as the state's largest industrial employer.  While visiting the shipyard, the Governor also attended a briefing on the Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program that included emergency planning with state and local officials.
