USDA Secretary Says He Won't Be Satisfied Until U.S. Beef Is Back in Japan's Markets
In a statement released regarding the agreement to resume beef trade with Japan, Secretary Johanns announced that Japanese audit teams will arrive in the U.S. this weekend and conclude their work by July 21. Upon completion of the audits, Japan has agreed to "expeditiously resume beef trade."  (06/21/06)

Johanns Announces Trade and Investment Mission To East Africa
Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns today invited U.S. agribusiness firms to participate in a Trade and Investment Mission to the East Africa region in late fall 2006. Johanns announced the trade and investment mission in remarks to trade, finance and foreign affairs ministers attending the fifth African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum being held in Washington this week.
