Vital statistics data

  • Birth certificate, death certificate, report of fetal death, and infant birth/death linked files are obtained from the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).

Population data

  • Postcensal population estimates are obtained from the US Census bureau. The reference date for county population estimates is July 1.
