Spring / Summer Advisory [Last Updated: July 27, 2008]: Unstable cornices remain on the crater rim of Mount St. Helens (for details see climbing page and scroll down to cornice photo diagram).  Forest Road 81-830 has been reopened to Climber's Bivouac.  Forest Road 99 (access to Windy Ridge) is closed at Bear Meadows viewpoint. Forest Road 83 (access to Lava Canyon) is closed at Marble Mountain Sno-Park..

May 13 , 2008

Snow Depth: 3' - 4'

Rating/Remarks:    Forecasts call for warming temperatures and occasional rain, so please exercise caution when traveling on forest roads and trails. Check website for current avalanche information.  

Road Information:  Forest Road 83 is plowed to the Cougar Sno-Park.  Parking is available alongside the roadway, leave one lane open for passing.

Marble Mountain

May 13 2008

Snow Depth: Sno-Park is CLOSED until further notice due to heavy snowfallInformation on discontinued plowing and status of the Washington State Sno-Park program. 

Rating/Remarks:    Forecasts call for intermittent snowfall, warming temperatures and rain, so please exercise caution when traveling on forest roads and trails. Check website for current avalanche information.   A temporary bridge has been constructed across the creek at the June lake trailhead. Barriers are in place to the right of bridge at 83 Road washout. Forest Road 8312 is closed to snowmobiling, a barrier 1/4 mile up 8312 Road marks the washout.

Road Information:  83 Road is plowed to Cougar Sno-Park.

Grooming:  Forest Road 83 beyond June Lake Ck is not being groomed at this time due to inaccessibility. Check website for grooming updates.

Rating/Remarks: Poor / Lower Eagle Loop (south of Road 82) is closed while logging occurs adjacent to Road 8200-070.  Snow pack getting thin under denser tree cover.

Road Information: Road is plowed and clear.  Log truck traffic on weekdays.   

Grooming:   Regular grooming has ended for the season.

Rating/Remarks: Excellent / Groomed trails are in great shape.  Winter won't quit.

Road Information: Oldman Pass, Koshko, and Rush Creek Sno-Parks are open. McClellan Meadows Sno-Park remains closed.  Road is plowed.  Carry traction devices.  Sno-Park permits are not required at this time.

Grooming:  Today, 4/18/2008, will be the last grooming of the season.  Skiing is likely to remain very good for several weeks more.  Check the following site for grooming updates.
