Announcement--Strategic Plan for the North American Breeding Bird Survey: 2006-2010 The USGS Patuxent Wildlife Research Center, Canadian Wildlife Service, and Mexico's National Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity are pleased to announce the availability of the Strategic Plan for the North American Breeding Bird Survey: 2006-2010 (21 May 2007). Developed in cooperation with partners and stakeholders to help ensure that the Breeding Bird Survey continues to provide scientifically credible measures of the population status and trends of hundreds of North American bird species to inform biologically sound conservation and management actions well into the future, the Plan identifies two major program goals and outlines 5 strategies, 13 objectives and 36 individual action items to help accomplish these goals. The Plan is available at: http://www.pwrc.usgs.gov/bbs/bbsnews/MeetingProducts/Index.html. Jeff Spendelow was interviewed by David Scharfenberg, a reporter with the Cape Cod Times, who is doing a story about the restoration work being done for the roseate terns nesting at Bird Island in Buzzards Bay, MA.
