Encouraging Entrepreneurial Growth in Europe

Department of Commerce’s Program for Entrepreneurial Growth (PEG) seeking to improve the global environment for innovation and entrepreneurship
 
Goals:  To expand transatlantic partnership, trade and investment opportunities while encouraging pro-innovation, pro-entrepreneurship policy changes in Europe.  To help European financiers, entrepreneurs and innovators craft a common policy message and engage European policymakers.

Benefits:  U.S. and European participants will establish new professional contacts, gain access to potential markets, discuss ideas and opportunities for partnership, trade and investment, and engage local policy makers on public policies to improve innovative and entrepreneurial activity.


Pilot Initiative

  • Four elements implemented over 12 months

              - Web-based video conferences
              - Resource intensive web resource
              - European conferences
              - U.S. site visits


Video Conferences

  •   Link U.S.-based entrepreneurs, financiers and educators with European counterparts 
  •   Conduct via web-based video conferencing software without leaving one’s office
  •   Establish mentor-mentee and peer-to-peer relationships and business partnerships

  •   Partnership between the U.S. Commerce Dept. and the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation
  •   Leverage America’s entrepreneurial leadership to advance global economic growth
  •   Connect and inform the global community of entrepreneurs


European Conferences

  •   Meet government and industry leaders
  •   Share insights, discuss policy goals and objectives


U.S. Site Visits for European Participants

  •   Visit centers of innovative and entrepreneurial excellence
  •   Meet trade association representatives and policy makers in Washington DC
