Mode of Action of Environmental Toxicants The majority of the trainees receive their Ph.D. in Environmental and Molecular Toxicology, but the training is interdisciplinary and degrees in Biochemistry, Cell and Molecular Biology and Pharmacy are also offered. The research opportunities for pre- and postdoctoral trainees cover a breadth of toxicology with particular strengths in mechanistic, molecular, and environmental toxicology. Additional training is available in signal transduction, neurotoxicology, and DNA repair. The majority of the faculty are associated with the Environmental Health Sciences Center, Marine/Freshwater Biomedical Sciences Center or The Linus Pauling Institute. Training in clinical applications of toxicology is available through participating faculty at the Oregon Health and Sciences University in Portland.
