The Curriculum in Toxicology is an interdisciplinary, interdepartmental and interinstitutional training program whose faculty are drawn from the Schools of Medicine, Pharmacy and Public Health, and from national research laboratories, the Chemical Industry Institute of Toxicology and private industry located in the Research Triangle Park. The format of the program is such that scientists are trained in toxicology with an in-depth research experience in a specific discipline. The programmatic focus is on the molecular and cellular mechanisms of action of toxic substances in mammalian systems and cell culture, with research interests of the faculty falling into five broad disciplines: Molecular Toxicology; Chemical Carcinogenesis; Neurotoxicology; Developmental Toxicology; and Pulmonary Toxicology.
