Cancellation Notice of SGA 03-100 - Federal Register Notice

The U.S. Department of Labor is canceling the SGA published in the Federal Register of January 6, 2003 (68 FR 567), concerning the availability of grant funds for H-1B Technical Skills Training Grants for training unemployed and employed American Workers. Effective Date - 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on January 16, 2004.

U.S. Department of Labor Awards $49.1 million for Advanced Technical Skills Training

The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded $49.1 million in grants to 18 Business-led Partnerships around the country to train workers for high-technology jobs. These grants are issued under SGA/DFA 03-114 published June 24, 2003 in the Federal Register.

U.S. Department of Labor Awards $19.4 million for Advanced Technical Skills Training

The U.S. Department of Labor has awarded $19.4 million in grants to seven local Workforce Investment Boards around the country to train workers for high-technology jobs. Prospective Applicant Conferences Cancelled
October 10, 2003

Because some of the key provisions of the H-1B visa program contained in the American Competitiveness in the 21st Century Act of 2000 expired on September 30, 2003, the Department of Labor is conducting a review of the H-1B Technical Skills Training Grant Program. While funding for additional grants is still available, all currently scheduled Prospective Applicant Conferences are being cancelled. Watch this internet web site for further updates, including information on the current Solicitation for Grant Award (SGA).

This guide should be used in conjunction with Solicitation for Grant Applications (SGA) SGA/DFA 03-114, issued June 24, 2003 in the Federal Register and is not a substitute for the official solicitation.

U.S. Labor Department Invites Business-Led Partnerships to Apply for H-1B Technical Skills Training Grants

On June 24, 2003, the U.S. Department of Labor announced that Business-Led Partnerships are being invited to compete for approximately $50 million in grants to provide technical skills training to incumbent or unemployed workers.


H-1B Technical Skills Training Grants - Prospective Applicant Conferences

The U.S. Labor Department invites prospective H-1B Technical Skills Training Grants applicants to attend a series of conferences on: March 11, 2003, in Washington, DC; March 20, 2003 in Atlanta, GA; and March 25, 2003 in Denver CO. The purpose of these conferences is to prepare prospective applicants to respond to the solicitation for grant applications published in the January 6, 2003 Federal Register.

On January 6, 2003, the U.S. Department of Labor announced that local boards that administer federally-funded workforce training programs are being invited to compete for grants to provide technical skills training for unemployed workers or for incumbent workers who want to upgrade their skills or change occupations.

As a result of a recent procurement action, the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, a partner in the America's Workforce Network, is awarding $19,063,250 to seven organizations.


U.S. LABOR DEPARTMENT INVITES WORKFORCE BOARDS TO APPLY FOR HIGH-TECH TRAINING GRANTS

On April 13, 2001, Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao announced that local boards that administer federally-funded workforce training programs are being invited by the Labor Department to compete for grants to provide technical skills training for workers who have lost their jobs, or who want to upgrade their skills or change occupations.


Labor Department Focuses On Training American Workers

WASHINGTON - U.S. Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao announced on January 3,2002, a $20 million grant competition for H-1B Technical Skills Partnership Grants that will train American workers in high skill occupations.
