In the fall, the Alaska Fisheries Science Center invites a member of the community to speak to NOAA staff about diversity-related issues in our communities. The objective of the Diversity Awareness lecture series is to raise awareness about different viewpoints in our community while offering safe environment to become informed about diversity-related issues. In doing so, the AFSC strives to help achieve NOAA's diversity vision of fostering an inclusive, supportive, open, innovative work environment in which all people are respected as individuals and valued for their contributions to NOAA's mission.
