The City of Albuquerque Economic Development Department works with Albuquerque Economic Development Inc., a private, nonprofit organization, to recruit business and industry to Albuquerque. EDD also works with the New Mexico Department of Economic Development , the New Mexico Economic Development Partnership and the regional Metro New Mexico Development Alliance.
The EDD has worked on such major relocation projects as Eclipse Aviation, The Gap Corporate Shared Services, TempurPedic, Sennheiser and SUMCO.
Albuquerque Economic Development Inc. can prepare both general and customized information for economic-based companies considering a location in the Albuquerque metro area. Information on properties, incentives, labor force, utilities, transportation, taxes and quality of life are available at www.abq.org .
The Greater Albuquerque Chamber of Commerce will send a relocation package for individuals that includes Welcome Magazine, a visitors guide, a real estate guide, a directory of large employers, a Job Hunter’s Guide, an apartment guide and a map.
The National Association of Office & Industrial Properties publishes a directory of the state and certain cities, which includes economic and demographic information, descriptions, highlights and commercial property listings.
The Mid-Region Council of Governments publishes a Regional Atlas with detailed information about the Albuquerque Metro Area, which includes Bernalillo, Sandoval, Valencia and Torrance counties. See http://www.mrcog-nm.gov/
Not only does EDD recruit companies to the area, but it also assists existing companies in expansion. Examples of recent EDD-assisted expansions include: Advent Solar Technologies, CVI Laser, Emcore, Ktech, Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute and Bueno Foods.
