An additional Campaign Finance support line and online training session have been added for this week. See the memo for more information. More January 24 2008 - Campaign Finance Annual Reports Philadelphia Campaign Finance filers are reminded that Thursday, January 31st, is the deadline for filing 2007 Annual Reports. Annual Reports must be filed by all candidates, political committees and contributing lobbyists that have not filed a termination report for 2007. January 4 2008 - Campaign Finance Training Sessions Thursday, January 10th, 6pm Friday, January 11th, 12 noon More January 3 2008 - Campaign Finance Cycle 7 Philadelphia Campaign Finance Cycle 7 (Annual Reports) are now being accepted for filing. The deadline for filing is January 31st. Filing must be by accepted electronic method. Training sessions are being offered. Please follow the link below for more information. More November 29 2007 - Campaign Finance Cycle 6 Information Campaign Finance filing cycle 6 (30-day post-election) is underway. The deadline for filing is December 6th. For additional details, please read the memo. More October 23 2007 - 24-Hour Reporting Period for Cycle 5 The 24-Hour Reporting Period for Cycle 5 began Tuesday, October 23rd, and ends on Friday, November 5th. The 24-Hour Reporting Period, also referred to as Cycle 9, is for filing contributions or expenditures received or made after the cycle closing date, October 22nd. More October 19 2007 - NOTICE TO CAMPAIGN FINANCE FILERS For any Campaign Finance filers who would like to receive basic training in the computer skills necessary for filing required reports, such as introductory Microsoft Windows skills, the Campaign Finance support group will offer such training on an individual basis. The one-hour training sessions will be offered at the Campaign Finance filing center at the Marriott Residence Inn, One East Penn Square (corner of Market and Juniper, across the street from City Hall) Monday, Oct. 22nd through Thursday, Oct 25th between the hours of 9 AM and 6 PM. October 19 2007 - Campaign Finance report filers: Please read the memo concerning the Campaign Finance filing headquarters and training sessions available Oct. 22nd through Oct. 26th. More October 11 2007 - Smart Client PowerPoint Available The PowerPoint program being presented at the Smart Client training sessions October 11th and 16th is available here for filers to download for review. This presentation leads the new Smart Client user through all Smart Client filing steps, and may be useful as a refresher or guide for those filers who have started using the Smart Client software. October 8 2007 - CAMPAIGN FINANCE CYCLE 5 INFORMATION and SMART CLIENT SOFTWARE NEWS All Campaign Finance filers are urged to attend one of the upcoming electronic filing training sessions. The Pre-Election Campaign Finance filing deadline is approaching. All filers are required to submit their reports by Friday, October 26th. To assist filers, the Campaign Finance Smart Client software has been upgraded. Training sessions have been scheduled for Thursday, October 11th and Tuesday, October 16th. More October 4 2007 - The Most Stunning Photos from PhillyHistory.org The Department of Records and The Art Institute of Philadelphia recently partnered to organize an exhibit of about 80 of the most stunning photos from PhillyHistory.org, the Department of Records? online application that enables the public to search historic photos of Philadelphia. A limited run of the framed and enlarged photos from the exhibit is now available for sale. Each photograph has been digitally restored, archival printed on Hehnemuhle Cotton Rag Paper, and numbered to a limited edition of 25 per photograph only, then framed. More... September 19 2007 - Smart Client Training Sessions - 9/24 12pm and 6pm Campaign Finance filers are encouraged to make use of the Smart Client software to maintain and file their contribution and expense records. Two group training sessions will be held to familiarize filers with the Campaign Finance Smart Client software on Monday, September 24th at noon and at 6 PM. The sessions will be held at the Campaign Finance temporary filing headquarters located in the Marriott Residence Inn. May 25 2007 - NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNERS CONCERNING ADVERTISEMENTS FOR OBTAINING COPIES OF RECORDED DEEDS Owners of properties for which property deeds have been recorded with the Department of Records have reported receiving advertisements via the mail offering to provide, for a fee, copies of their recorded deeds. These advertisements are addressed to the property owner and cite the recording number of the deed.

More January 30 2007 - Ethics Board Offers Extension of Electronic Filing Deadline The Ethics Board is offering an extension of the January 31st deadline for candidates and political committees to file their cycle 7 reports with the Ethics Board via the Records Department to Thursday, February 15, 2007. December 15 2006 - Submitting Vendors Our E-Recording interface software is configured to accept all of Philadelphia's recorded document types. It is capable of receiving Level 2 and Level 3 electronic submissions.
December 15 2006 - Electronic Document Recording in Philadelphia Electronic Recording allows submitters to send documents to the Department of Records via the Internet instead of hand-delivering paper documents for recording. Turnaround time on processing and recording documents is greatly reduced since the documents are sent electronically and can include data tags with the submittal.

The NNA is the non-profit professional association for America's 4.5 million Notaries Public....more January 17 2006 - Notice Regarding Change in Mortgage Satisfactions In accordance with Act 197 of 2002, known as the Mortgage Satisfaction Act, the City of Philadelphia will no longer require an original mortgage in order to record a mortgage satisfaction. More January 17 2006 - E-Notarization in PA The PA Department of State will soon permit the electronic notarization of level 3 electronic recordings notarized by PA notaries. The Philadelphia Records Department is one of four PA counties that will be participating in Phase I of this initiative. This initiative will be effective in the beginning of February. Interested notaries who are approved by the state can bring their authorization letter to the Records Department, Room 111 City Hall, Monday through Friday, 8 am - 2 pm. October 6 2004 - On-Line System Now Available The Records Department’s document recording “Recorders Index” information is now available on-line. Users can search and obtain copies of land records such as deeds and mortgages and pay with a VISA or Master Card. The on-line system contains index and images of recorded land records dating back to 1976. A “Historical Index” with index data back to the 1600s is also available.
September 28 2004 - Legal Descriptions On Satisfaction Of Mortgage Documents It is not necessary to include a legal description on Satisfaction of Mortgage documents submitted for recording. However, please be sure to include a complete street address and, when necessary, such other description that will adequately describe the property. August 3 2004 - E-Recording Is Here The Records Department can now accept Level-3 Satisfaction of Mortgage Documents. The Department is also working on Level-2 recording for Deeds, Mortgages, and other document types.
