2008-2009 Before and After School Therapeutic Recreation Program

Program Availability

These programs are available only at the schools listed below.  Before and after school hours are 7:00 am until classes begin, and from school dismissal until 6:00 pm.  Children kindergarten through 5th grades are eligible, including students in Special Education.  Loma Linda Community Center is an After School program only, and serves students from any APS school.  Transportation provided from Lowell Elementary School only.

Recreation Program Dates

The program will begin the first day of school and continue through the last day of school.  Check with the school to verify the date classes begin and end.  Reminder!:  the program will follow the Albuquerque Public School schedule, which means when the school is closed, program will be closed.

Check with your child’s school for a schedule of in-service days, as well as APS holidays.

Registration Date, Time and Place

Registration is usually held on the school campus prior to the first day of classes, during new student registration.  Registration is limited and is held on a first come, first served basis.  If you are unable to register on the registration day, you will still be allowed to register your child in the program any time during the regular program hours, provided there is still space available for additional participants.  If there is no space available, you can put your child’s name on a waiting list.  Children with disabilities will be given priority.  A completed registration form is required on any and all children that attend this program.  For safety reasons, if there is not a registration form for a child, they will not be allowed to participate in the program.

Costs

There is a $25.00 Special Event Fee due at the time of registration.  Extended Care Fees apply for each student and need to be paid weekly to the Site Supervisor.  There are no daily fees.

Recreation Access Program

Therapeutic Recreation Programs provide recreation programming support at Community Center after school programs.  We will take referrals for participants with disabilities who would like to attend City recreation programs.

Eligibility Criteria:

All above registration requirements apply in addition to the following criteria:

• Ages K – 14
• Willing to attend a Community Center program
• Adherence to all community center rules
