2008 Summer Recreation Program Drawing & Registration Rules
Due to the high participant (childrent from 6 through 12 years old) demand for the City of Albuquerque’s Community Centers Summer Recreation Program, the Department of Family & Community Services has implemented a “lottery-style” selection of participants. In addition, a new City Council directive requires that city residents be given preference for this program. The name of the parent/legal guardian registering the child(ren) must match the name on the proof of residence document. Anyone interested in participating in the lottery will be asked to show proof of residency with one of the following documents:
Lottery Forms will only be accepted from Monday, April 14, 2008 through Friday, April 25, 2008, at each Community Center. Enter lottery at the Center where you wish your child(ren) to attend the summer program.
Drawing Entry Forms will be available and accepted directly at all Community Centers during normal operating hours.
Drawing will take place at each Community Center on Wednesday, April 30, 2008, based on the participant limit for each Center. The names of applicants at each Center who are City of Albuquerque residents will be drawn until all available positions at that Community Center are filled. Thereafter, the remaining City resident applicant names will be drawn to determine the order of who will be on a waiting list to fill any vacancies that open up in the program. In addition, there will be a separate drawing of non-resident applicants to determine the order of who will be on the waiting list for filling any vacancies should no city residents remain on the waiting list.
Was my name selected?
The names of the individuals selected during the drawings will be posted from Monday, May 5, 2008 through Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Community Center where you submitted your lottery form.
Program Registration
Those selected must register their child(ren) for the summer program between Monday, May 5, 2008 through Friday, May 9, 2008, at the Community Center where they entered the drawing. If the selected applicants do not register their child(ren) between Monday, May 5 through Friday, May 9, 2008, their slot(s) will be given to the next person(s) on the waiting list.
