Exhibits, video displays, and interactive computer programs at the Department of Energy's Yucca Mountain Information Center explain the plans for the nation's first-ever repository for spent nuclear fuel and high-level radioactive waste.

Visitors can see exhibits and displays that answer the following questions:

  • How is nuclear waste created and how are different countries planning to dispose of it?
  • Why did Congress choose Yucca Mountain as the site for an underground repository?
  • How does the Department of Energy plan to safely transport nuclear waste?
  • What will the repository look like and what will happen there?
  • What's the program's current status?
