Conference Support Program (CSP)

  1. Program Description:
    1. The Conference Support Program (CSP) provides financial support for international workshops and/or conferences in order to achieve specific goals, listed below:
      1. Planning collaborative international science or technology programs;
      2. Exchanging information between Department of the Navy (DoN) S&T programs and international programs;
      3. Identifying and discussing outstanding S&T issues in areas of DoN interest;
      4. Developing long term relationships between DoN and international S&T Sponsors; and,
      5. Maintaining ONRG connectivity in core areas.
    2. CSP funds are intended for support of workshops, conferences or conference sessions that make a clear contribution to the advancement of Naval relevant S&T.
  1. Conditions:
    As a condition of CSP support, ONRG requires free conference registration for a negotiated number of Naval Research Enterprise (NRE) attendees, copies of all meeting materials, recognition of ONRG support, and, in the case that CSP funding supports travel by international scientists, assurance that the scientists are aware the travel support came from ONRG, and ONRG is in turn, provided the scientist’s name and institution within 30 days of the end of the conference/workshop.
  1. Procedures:
    Formal requests for CSP support, whether initiated internally or externally to ONRG, should be addressed to the Grants Administrator, ONRG, or the Officer-in-Charge, ONRG Asia. Addresses and telephone numbers are listed below. A formal proposal for financial assistance should be made by the conference organizers or authorized representative at least 12 weeks, but not more than one year, prior to the date of the proposed conference. The Proposal Format that outlines the information required for a CSP Proposal can be found in section 5.

  1. CSP Proposal Format:

  2. A request for CSP financial assistance should be in the form of an electronic/written proposal. The formal proposal should be submitted by the conference organizers or authorized representative at least 12 weeks, but not more than one year, prior to the date of the proposed conference to allow sufficient time for reviews and for necessary paperwork to be completed. In order to expedite approval of requests, the proposal must include:
    1. Title of meeting
    2. Date of meeting
    3. Objective of meeting
    4. Location of meeting
    5. Sponsoring organization
    6. Name and full contact details (address, telephone, e-mail) of the organizer and names of the organizing committee members
    7. Brief description of program including names of invited speakers and/or distinguished guests
    8. Budget, submitted in US dollars, showing estimated expenses and incomes (and sources) and clearly indicating proposed use of ONRG fund
    9. A list of other organizations being solicited for support
    10. Specific amount of money requested for ONRG support
    11. Formal statement of acceptance of ONRG conditions:

    12. As a condition of support, ONRG requires:
      1. Free conference registration for those NRE scientists designated by ONRG;
      2. Copies of all meeting materials such as proceedings to be mailed to the Office of Naval Research Global;
      3. Recognition of ONRG support in meeting literature; and
      4. When ONRG funds are used to support travel expenses by international scientists:

        1. The scientist receiving the travel support being informed that the travel assistance was provided by the U.S. Office of Naval Research Global, and;
        2. Within 30 days of the end of the conference/workshop, the ONRG grants Administrator is provided a list of all scientists (by name and institution) who received funding from the ONRG grant.
    Proposals for financial support should be addressed to the Grants Administrator, ONRG, or Officer-in-Charge, ONRG Asia at the address provided in Section 4 above.
