  "America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response" - The AMBER Alert System began in 1996 when Dallas-Fort Worth broadcasters teamed with local police to develop an early warning system to help find abducted children. In 2002, transportation agencies started using their dynamic message signs (DMS) to broadcast AMBER Alerts and have become principal partners in AMBER Plans across the country.
