Summary

At the request of the Senate Appropriations Committee, we initiated an audit of the Department’s budget requests for enhancing information technology (IT) security, e-Government services, and management of DOT's IT investment. We will determine: (1) whether the IT budget requests from the Office of the Chief Information Officer and the Operating Administrations contain duplicative or overlapping items; (2) the extent to which these requests were adequately planned and coordinated by the Office of the Chief Information Officer; and (3) progress the Department has made to improve IT security, e-Government services, and management of its IT investment.
