Update on access to U.S. mail, overnight mail, and fax services
The FOIA team currently has limited access to U.S. mail and overnight mail services and is no longer accepting fax communications. Limited access means that our responses to mail inquiries may be delayed.
Beginning July 20, 2020, the FOIA team has resumed its acceptance of FOIA requests by mail. If prior to that date, you submitted a FOIA request or appeal to the Bureau by U.S. mail, overnight mail services, or fax and have not received an acknowledgement of receipt by the Bureau, we recommend resubmitting or following up by email to confirm receipt.
Expected timeframe
Processing time varies with the request’s complexity. However, the CFPB will make every attempt to provide a response within the timeframes outlined in the FOIA statute.
