Enhancing Veterans' Care Tool Kit

In summer 2012, AACN joined with the Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) in an effort to enhance the resources of nurses working with veterans as part of the Joining Forces initiative, with a particular focus on nursing education. To that end, this Enhancing Veterans’ Care (EVC) Tool Kit was developed.

Nursing Clinical Practice

This transformative program's goal is to establish systematic approaches to support efficient and effective patient-driven care in all settings and programs.

Nursing Research

This field advisory group establishes, implements, and evaluates a strategic plan for VA nursing research and advises ONS and nursing leadership in the field on issues and activities related to nursing research.

 

 

 

 

Research & Academics

This program's goal is to create an environment of inquiry in which all nurses apply the best available evidence to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes throughout the VA.

Advanced Practice Nursing

This field advisory group focuses on establishing, implementing, and evaluating the strategic plan for advanced practice nursing in VA.

 

 

 

 

Career Development & Workforce Management

These creative programs seek to continue to enhance the competent, dedicated, compassionate, and high-performing nursing workforce through retention, recruitment, and organizational initiatives.

Nursing Informatics

ONS Informatics provides the information necessary to establish policy, data to develop evidence for patient care, and the tools and  environment that adequately manage resources and support patient care. 

 

 

 

 

Nursing Leadership

The Leadership program sustains, supports and develops leadership orientation, education and system-wide programs that prepare nurse leaders for the future.  

Nursing Outcomes Database

The intent of this program is to create a national database of clinically relevant, nursing-sensitive quality indicators to identify trends and areas for improving the quality and safety of healthcare for veterans.
