Cross Country Set To Host The North Texas Invitational On Saturday

DENTON, Tex. (9/13/07) The longest running event hosted by North Texas takes place this weekend as the 30th annual North Texas Invitational cross country meet takes place Saturday morning from the Eagle Point Campus. The Mean Green is hosting teams from Baylor, TCU, SMU, Northwood, and UT-Dallas.

 

The men will run an 8k race starting at 9:00 a.m. and the women finish things off at 9:30 a.m. with a 5k race.

 

North Texas is coming off a very successful opening week that saw freshman Patrick Strong win the UTA Maverick Challenge in his first race at the Division I level. For his efforts Strong was named the Sun Belt Conference Male Runner of the Week after his win at UTA.

 

The Mean Green men’s team entered into the South Central Regional rankings to begin the week as well at 12th in the poll.

 

The women are paced by three underclassmen heading into the weekend. Jessica Torres, Michelle Gallegos, and Sallie Anderson all had top 10 finishes at the UTA Maverick Challenge to begin the season.
