The Common Data Set (CDS) is a standardized annual report completed by institutions of higher education, including the University of North Texas (UNT). It is a collaborative effort between publishers and the educational community to improve the quality and accuracy of information provided to all involved in a student's transition into higher education. Questions and definitions used by the U.S. Department of Education in its college surveys are a guide in the development of CDS items.
Information found in the CDS includes enrollment, demographic, faculty, financial aid and degree completion data. The aim of the CDS is to make institutional information accessible to students, faculty and staff, alumni and other stakeholders for comparison purposes.
