Eugene Recreation Use Fees
Recreation fees charged at Eugene District recreation sites are critical to maintain site and service standards at our overnight and day use fee areas. The use fees, as well as revenues collected through the administration of Special Recreation Permits (SRP) associated with commercial, competitive and organized events that utilize the sites and/or nearby recreational areas, are directly applied to fund critical work aimed at addressing visitor health and safety needs, as well as facilitating visitor enjoyment opportunities.
Use Fee Site Improvements
Some examples of recent work at Shotgun Creek and Sharps Creek Recreation Sites include trail drainage and surface hardening activities, site signing, native plantings, walkway repair, roadway improvements (e.g., moss removal, striping, etc.), partial funding for maintenance staff directly associated with the fee sites/activities, damaged site restoration, and equipment purchase.
Recent work at Whittaker Creek Recreation Site included campground site repairs (stairs to tent sites, fences along creek), as well as installation of propane generator to power water system, Old Growth trail repair, new information kiosk, replacement of I.D. signs, install of two concrete vault restrooms, and major upgrade of gazebo.
Recent work at Clay Creek Recreation Site included new bollards, river trail repair, replacement of I.D. signs, install of four concrete vault restrooms, and installation of trail registers. The addition of a solar-powered water system has been a successful endeavor. Ten picnic tables at Clay Creek were replaced in 2010 with long-lasting, durable concrete picnic tables, using recreation fees circulated back into BLM recreation areas.
