The Roan Plateau Planning Area Resource Management Plan Amendment and Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement considers land use planning decisions for management of approximately 73,800 acres of federal land in western Garfield County and a small portion of southern Rio Blanco County, Colorado. This includes 56,540 acres of the former Naval Oil Shale Reserves Numbers 1 and 3. The new planning effort and supporting environmental analysis addresses information and alternatives analyzed in the BLM's 2006 proposed RMP and Final EIS, supplemented with additional analysis in response to issues identified by the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado, as well as new issues raised in internal and external scoping for the supplement. The proposed RMP Amendment and Final Supplemental EIS analyzes goals, objectives, allowable uses and management actions for the planning area.
