This service provides evaluation of products in animal efficacy models. A product must demonstrate a potent and selective activity profile in the in vitro microbicide screening algorithm prior to its acceptance as a candidate for this service. Studies to determine optimal routes and schedules of drug administration can be performed.
Non-human Primate Model
- Macaques are inoculated with SIV or SHIV.
- Antiviral efficacy can be demonstrated via changes in virologic and immunologic parameters.
The current contractor for this service is Advanced BioScience Laboratories, Kensington, Maryland.
