Assessments independent of a system's developers help ensure an impartial evaluation of program status. The ILA process, although viewed and implemented differently by each service, provides the program manager, program logisticians, and ultimately, the warfighting commands and the Milestone Decision Authority (MDA) with a confidence in the Integrated Logsitics Support (ILS) planning and implementation. Assessments of logistics support programs prior to system fielding also help ensure timely awareness of potential deficiencies requiring attention and corrective action.
