Compensation costs increased 0.6 percent for civilian workers, seasonally adjusted,
from June 2016 to September 2016. Over the year, compensation rose 2.3 percent,
with wages and salaries up 2.4 percent and benefits up 2.3 percent.

Employer costs for state and local government workers averaged $29.06 per hour worked for
wages and salaries and $16.87 for benefits in September 2016. State and local government
health benefit costs averaged $5.41 per hour worked.
